Heart deaths rocket up in Asia

"Heart disease rates in top Asian countries are rising frighteningly fast, cardiologists say. Chinese cardiologist Professor Runlin Gao warned a meeting of experts in Shanghai that heart disease rates in China, India, Indonesia and Malaysia are skyrocketing thanks to fast food diets, smoking, cars and other symbols of affluence. Australian cardiologists say the trends are 'frightening' and make local efforts to combat heart disease look good. Professor Gao said in China alone, 100 million people were at risk of heart disease, with one person dying every 15 seconds" - The West Australian
