Broward students watch open-heart surgery (USA)
"With his hands deep in a man's chest cavity and a camera attached to his head, Dr. Gary Allen offered a warning to several hundred high school students Wednesday: 'You should never try this at home.' Allen offered a running commentary to students throughout Broward while performing a double bypass on the 73-year-old patient at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood. 'Normally we have pretty good music playing,' he said. 'For the sake of education, we turned down the music today.' The students, who were gathered in an auditorium at the hospital and scattered across public high schools across the county, watched the open-heart surgery live via videoconference and asked questions throughout" - Miami Herald
